About CYP
CYP was founded in 1999 by a few area young professionals with the support of some large corporations determined to attract and retain young professionals to the area. CYP currently has 125 members, ranging in age from early 20s to late 40s. Though the majority of our membership falls in the mid 20s to mid 30s bracket, CYP has no definitive age group - we believe anyone can be young at heart! Our members represent a vast array of the area's workforce, including the arts, architecture, engineering, finance, marketing, manufacturing, the trades, law, medicine, media, non-profits, and government (that's just a few of them!). We've occasionally considered a contest for the "CYP member with the most unusual employment" and we have some really good contenders - no matter what your employment, you'll be comfortable within this group.
CYP's mission is to attract and unite a group of young, active, civic-minded professionals who have a clear vision of Charlottesville's future as a great place to live, work, and play. A Board of Directors, composed of volunteers, leads our organization. Each board member serves a one-year term. Our membership loves to get together, socialize, and become involved in the community, having a good time and working however we can to improve the City of Charlottesville.
If you want more information on the group, feel free to contact our current president, Zach Brackett. If you think you would like to attend one of our events, please let us know. We'd be happy to introduce you to some of our members, so that you can see what CYP is offering before you commit to joining.
